The Good News!
My friend, I would like to ask you some questions. Have you ever thought about death. I know it not a favorite topic of discussion. Have you ever wonder what happens after we die or at least after our physical bodies pass away? You may well say, "I exercise and watch
what I eat." You might even go to your family doctor, like me, ever six months or once a year.
Those are all good things which we all should be doing, but in the end we all will die. The
bible says, "And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgement," Hebrews 9:27 ESV. You see, in the end, we all will die at some time.
There are some people who believe that after one dies, that's it. No consciousness or anything else, you just cease to exit. Of course the scriptures tells otherwise. Let's see what the bible has to say about this. There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who and who feasted sumptuously everyday. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. Luke 16: 19-25. The bible clearly states that after death, we still have our senses. Don't be fooled by other people telling you that when you die that's it.
You might be thinking, all that I've told you so far was nothing but bad news and your right. The good news is, you can be ready for death and have eternal life. God is willing to offer anyone the free gift of eternal life. Let's look at what the bible has to say. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be Saved. John 3:16 & 17 NKJV. You see, God does not want anyone to die and go to Hell. "Not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance." 2 Peter 3:9 ESV
You might be wondering what I must do to be saved? I'm glad you asked. Look what the Apostle Paul said to the Philippian jailer. When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here." And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." Acts 16:27-31 ESV.
